Louise Blood
Born
Sydney, studied Zoology at University of
Sydney and later completed her doctorate at
University College London.
Lecturer, Dept
of Anatomy, The University of Queensland
(1969-1993) then for a time at QUT and Griffith
Universities. Director/Lecturer of
Medical Terminology Qld (2000,2013). Freelance illustrator for Jacaranda Wiley Press (1993)
As an artist
has undertaken various art studies in creative
and life drawing, porcelain and ceramic
techniques, screen printing and intaglio
printmaking.
As a Member of
the Royal Queensland Art Society has displayed
works in the Society's Combined Members
Exhibitions. Has also participated in numerous
group exhibitions in several commercial
galleries and has had several solo exhibitions
in Brisbane and Regional Queensland and
N.S.W.Participates regularly in group
exhibitions in Queensland and overseas.
Louise's
commissions include a series of three limited
edition prints to promote the Biological
Sciences, The University of
Queensland
She is
represented in private collections in UK, USA,
Germany, Japan and Italy.
General and
scientific illustrational work has appeared in
English, Anatomy and Human Movement texts as
well as medical and scientific
journals.
As a Member of
the Brisbane Arts Theatre (1984-2002) she maintained
an active interest in theatre and film not only
as a performer but also in the many facets of
art as applied to theatre, having designed
programmes/poster, set and costumes and also
painted backdrops for many of this theatres
productions.
Louise has
resided in the Tweed area since 2003.
